Chapter 1. Introduction

XLocate is an X front end to the standard Linux slocate or GNU locate utilities. It allows for instant pattern search through local and remote file systems, mounted or unmounted, as well as shelved collections of removable disk cartridges, USB memory sticks, CDROMs and data DVDs.

You can see in the screenshot below how easy it is to spot the files you are looking for amidst a huge collection of volumes of any sort.
